Tarima Son & Sol Azul at Gallery Colibri 6.6.07
It's
always a good time at the Gallery Colibri. Tarima Son opened the night's
event followed by the jazzy, Rock En Espanol sounds of
Sol Azul
and the evening's music was vibrant upbeat and as I would put it
colorful. There were two gentlemen dancers that danced the zapateado on
the Tarima like there was no tomorrow as if they had firecrackers on
their feet.
I especially liked Roberto's chistes de Chuchumbe. For those who don't know what a Chuchumbe is, try this out as you read. Point your thumb up as if giving your fellow compadre a thumbs up for making it over the fence while not getting caught, Orale, then give a thumbs down like in that Gladiator movie, "Off with his head!". Extend your index finger out and then keeping your thumbs down positioning, place your thumb in your belly button. Your index finger will be pointing at your Chuchumbe.
